Near the Bench with Lee

This was painted from the bench near the Kent Cottage. My friend Lee came by to read while I was in the middle of it, hence the title.

Top of Horns Hill

I was comming back from the cliffs on the other side of the Island and saw this scene. The low sun and Manana behind the Bogdanove house looked beautiful. I've painted it before, but couldn't resist it again.

Red House at Sunset - SOLD -

I just returned from my annual Monhegan Island Painting trip. This is the famous Red House above Swim Beach. I painted it as the sun was setting behind Manana. The little girl who lives in the house came to talk and watch me as I was frantically painting. At mid point I wasn't satisfied with what I was doing and said ," I might just rub this one out" to which she replied, " Oh, I don't think so"! Fortunately, I stuck with it, and glad I did. In the next few weeks I'll be posting paintings from this years trip.

Off Lobster Cove

I was painting off Lobster Cove early one morning and unbeknownst to me I was being photographed. Elleen McCarney Muldoon introduced herself to me and said she'd sent me the pictures. I looked at her web site www.imageloftphoto.com and was very impressed with what she sees and what see captures. Thanks Eileen!

Monhegan Painters

On my last night on the Island, a few of my painting friends got together for a drink. Of the two shots taken that night this was the worst for me. If you blow it up you will see my eyes were closed, but my friends looked great so I choose this photo to post. From the left is Carol, Lee, Kevin and me. Camla had already left , Ann was out somewhere and Barbara was holed up in her studio. It was a good trip and every year I meet wonderful people. Painting went well this year and I look forward to next year adventure!
